Hey Hey,
I’m writing you with hopes that you and your family are ok after this CRAZY storm. Being without power for days and some still without. I myself am in total survival mode, looking for resources for my family, and because y'all rock for me I HAVE to rock for y'all…… Even if you are not directly effected by hurricane Beryl, hurricane season is still upon us. If you come in contact with a hurricane here is how it can effect your taxes.
Casualty Loss Deduction:
Did you know that you can deduct casualty losses on your tax return? These are losses that result from sudden, unexpected, and unusual events, like hurricanes. For example, if your home or property was damaged, you might be able to deduct those losses
Qualified Disaster Relief Payments:
Qualified disaster relief payments are tax-free. These payments can help cover necessary personal expenses, repairs, and temporary housing. If you were effected by hurricane Beryl here is a list of resources:
Contact Fema:
if your power was out and you lost food file Fema claim for $750 you can also call 800-621-3362
Disaster Unemployment is available:
Unemployment Benefit Service or call 800-939-6631, if you receive unemployment please make sure TAXES ARE TAKEN OUT.
Retirement Accounts:
There are provisions for penalty-free withdrawals for disaster relief. You can even repay these distributions to avoid taxes.
Remember, it's crucial to document your losses. Keep detailed records, take photos, and save receipts for any repairs or replacements
As I receive more information I will relay it to you all first. Please stay safe, stay calm, and know this to shall pass!!!!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾 Thank you for your steadfast support of our business—we are truly grateful.
Sincerely,
Danielle
